Bottle shared late night at RBWG. Pours clear amber with a light, bubbly head. Rich, meaty malts in the nose, toffee, slight cheese. Medium to big sweet flavor, some brown sugar, toffee, bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, warming, lots of toffee, alcohol, wood. Not bad.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective barrel-aged beer tasting on 08/11/2012. Clear amber pour with a thin white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Citrus, malt and oak in the nose. Medium to full body with notes of citrus, bourbon, malt and a bit of floral hops flavors. The finish is malty with an oak aftertaste. Decent aged Barley Wine overall.

bottle - Pours murky amber-brown with a small head. It smells of bourbon, oak, caramel, and a hint of dark fruit. The flavor is sweet with a big bourbon tastes that dominates it. It’s full bodied and good, but the bourbon is perhaps a little heavy such that it doesn’t allow the other flavors to come through enough. Those who like bourbon will enjoy it. Those who don’t should definitely stay away.

Bottle shared with shrubber85. Sweet malt, smoky/oaky bourbon, and vanilla aroma. Chestnut with a small off-white head. Sweet malt, sharp oaky bourbon flavor smoothed with vanilla. Despite the boozy bourbon flavor the alcohol was well hidden. Full body.

Bottle. Caramel malt and bourbon aroma. Chestnut color with minimal head. Strong bourbon flavor upfront with surprisingly subdued sweet caramel malt flavor. Pretty strong ’hint’ of bourbon. Nicely balanced - not too sweet, not too much alcohol.

2009 bottle. Pours a c;ear deep amber with a slight orange hue and a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bourbon that melds nicely with sweet grains, caramel and a bit of dark bread. Flavor has a good amount bourbon as well, but the backing sweet grains and caramel are less prevalent making the finish a bit thing.

From a growler of "Bourbon Barrel Winter Warmer" - Not exactly a "bad" thing but the aroma reminds me a bit of dill pickles immediately then a moments pause later I get the vanilla bourbon. Bourbon dominates this brew. Malts.
