12 ounce bottle courtesy of TheGuy and opened 7/13/11. Pours a clear dark brownish orange color with a medium creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of raisin, soy, nutty notes, toffee. berries, citrus. The taste is toffee, raisin, anise, nuts, bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

12oz bottle. Deep brown color, with a thin oily head. Brutal, deep nut and dark fruit aroma, a touch of rich liqueur-like alcohol too. Hmm. While there are some pleasant dark fruit tones, I feel that Capital has failed, yet again. A touch too thin, like what you’d expect from a cost-cutting macro brewery. I suppose the candi-sugar really doesn’t help, the beer is already overwhelmed in malty sweetness. Some pleasant milk chocolate tones in the finish. Underwhelming beer overall.

Thanks to Skyview for sharing this rare beer. Not as great as I hoped, Autumnal Fire is better most years. A little sweet. Caramel malt. Brown color and almost no carbonation. Easily recognizable as a bock.
