8oz pour at Smoke and Barrel. Been chasing this around DC for a while. Pours an inky black with some spitty, brown head. Nose is very nice, lots of molasses, lots of roasted malt, some dark chocolate, vanilla, woody, some caramel. Flavor is nice too, some coffee grounds, sweet black strap molasses, a hint of black pepper and then solid barrel, wood, caramel, toast, vanilla. Full bodied, lightly sweet, lightly astringent finish.
