Draught. Poured a deep brown. Malt aromas. A very alcoholic beastly creature.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe for Big Wood 2013, pours black with a medium creamy tan head. Nose brings out intense whiskey notes, with subdued vanilla and a touch of roast. Flavour is insanely whiskey-dominated - there's nothing left of the base beer here. Something weird about this that makes it difficult to drink - maybe some aniseed / mouthwash. Quite boozy and barrel-heavy. Difficult to drink much off. Off the mark to me.

Draft. From notes. Loads of bourbony oak with chocolate and vanilla. I could easily drink this every day.

On tap at Pizza Port’s Barrel Blast. Pours with a black body and minimal head. Aroma is huge with brown sugar and molasses, bourbon and vanilla with notes of coffee and chocolate in the background. Flavors are heavy on the vanilla and chocolate with a woody finish. Some how manages to finish somewhat dry compared to some other big barrel aged RISs. Tasty.

Yummy. Bourbon fairly present in the nose. Smooth mouth, subdued Bourbon. Not too sweet. Warming. Alcohol well hidden. Rounded. Excellent;

A deep dark stout with a thin light moka head. In aroma, a light chocolate with wooden notes, subdued. In mouth, a light chocolate with dark fruits, a bit of wood and vanilla, not bad but not enough ooomph. On tap at Ballast Point 13 Anniv. Beer Festival , Oct. 24 2009.

Draft. A black beer with a brown shine under a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with roasted malt. The flavor is sweet and acidic from the strong notes of hard roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Draft. Almost black beer with a big off-white head. Bourbon aroma with rich malt. Bourbon flavor with a slight sourness and a bunch of caramel malt. Medium bodied. Tartness lingers with rich malt and bourbon. Tartness holds the beer back.
