It’s been a while since I had a mild and this one is, well, mild. Brown pour with great head and lacing. Some raw barley and a little basement musk. Light clean finish. Creamy consistency. Tap at Sovereign.

Draft at The Confessional. Poured a hazy copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma was mostly toasted malts, sweet dark malt notes. Nutty notes too. Flavor was nice nutty notes, real easy to drink. Enjoyable.

18th March 2014: on-tap in the Hopping Pig, San Diego. The best beer on my first flight of four. Came a clear reddy/brown dark amber with a full beige crown. Malt notes fill your nose and mouth with chocolate being the strongest noticeable, caramel and toffee follow closely behind. This isn’t a sweet brew though, it is balanced with a fruity, piney hop undertone that stops the malts running away with the brew. Tasty and unexpected in San Diego, glad I came across it.

On tap at the brewpub. A clear, brown beer with a small off-white head. Lightly roasted aroma, nuts, some caramel and a little hoppy touch in the aroma. It’s quite dry on the palate, with a nice carbonation and flavors of roasted malts and some coffee. A lightly piney, bitter touch in the back. A bit short finish. Too boring for me. 130815

Draught; served as Dawn Patrol Dark Mild Small light-brown head over dark cola-coloured beer. Chocolate, chocolatemalt, pine pulp, cacaopowder; very layered-complex nose for such a low ABV beer. Sweet, milkchocolate, touch of alcohol (!?), less complex than the nose. Maybe a bit young sample. Medium bodied, slick to a bit oily, maybe again the youngness. Good mild, excellent nose.
