Hop Rocker is Mac’s own Pilsener, with a full complement of Cascade & Nelson Sauvin hops for well-rounded complexity. Bitter, but in a good way.

If you like your pilsener to show a bit of hop, you've come to the right place – Hop Rocker is the flashy lead guitarist in our beer supergroup. While a modicum of classic malt helps to put body into Hop Rocker, that's hardly why it's so called. Smell those citrus aromas. Savour those bitter notes. All the result of Nelson Sauvin and New Zealand Cascade hops, adding a touch of botanical exoticism to your leisure activities.

Bottle courtesy of tarheels86, thank you sir! Pale yellow color. Aroma of malt and black pepper. Taste is bitter start to finish, decent body, maybe a slight sourness in the finish. Interesting.

Pours gold with a quickly fading head leaving nice lacing.Nose shows herbaceous, spicy and piney hops along with the expected passionfruit/peach from the Nelson Sauvin. Hints of white wine and woody notes also present along with a fair bit of sweet caramel.Similar flavours (spicy, herbal hops, woody notes) but also some bready, grainy malt.Light body, med-high carbonation fitting the style.

Draft. A hazy yellow beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of hops and grass. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops and grass, leading to a dry hayish finish. Nice pilsner.

From a 330ml bottle on 17/4/2010. Note - my bottle listed the ABV as 4.8% not 5%. Has a nice floral, fruity aroma. This actually tastes more like an APA than a pils. It’s got a lovely, subtle and quite sweet honeyed flavour with some fruity notes, which is balanced by some nice hop action. Quite impressive.

Bottle. Clear golden. Aroma was mainly malty with some floral hops. Palate seemed pretty full bodied to me, especially for this style and the carbonation was softy frothy smooth - all good, but not exactly pilsner. Flavour starts sweet malty and has a decent hoppy bitter finish. Overall, it’s a pretty decent beer but didn’t really live up to its name.

Bottle. Pale gold, good white head. Floral and citrus hop aroma, but the thing that stands out is the grassy/ leafy/ gooseberry smell which is presumably the Sauvin hops. The flavour is mainly those Sauvin hops too, with a real balance made by the malts. Nice round bitterness on the finish. This is an odd beer. I like it, but the hop profile makes it taste un-Pils for me. I’ve had a beer where these hops seem a settled part of the beer rather than sticking out so much (Knappstein Enterprise Lager) - this didn’t work so well.

(On tap) Courtesy of yalnikim. Clear, golden with a small, white, lacing head. Good, malty aroma with a whiff of flowers. Medium body with lightly sweet malt and flower notes and a fairly hoppy finish. 310108

Straw colour. Low carbonation. Short but rocky head. Lightly vinous nose with a herbal accent. Light bitterness with seabreezey notes. Interesting brew, but could do with a bit more substance.
