Tap at the brewery in Norfolk Virginia. A clear nutty brown coloured pour with a halo of beige head. Aroma is nutty malts, sticky pine, brown bread. Flavour is composed of nutty brown bread, pine sap, nutty malts. Palate is semi sweet, sticky hop. Highish carbonation.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a flat black color with a large foamy beige head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was bitter, piney and rough. The flavor was roasty , piney, bitter and rough. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Bottle. Pours black with a frothy beige head. Smells of citrus hops. Taste is citrus, pine, a hint of roasted malt. Not terribly flavorful, but decent. Light floral notes finish this off.

4 oz pour on draft at Spacebar. Dark brownish black with beige head. Aromas of licorice, rye, pine, light chocolate. Tastes of roast, rye, spices, floral, pine. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty good black IPA.
