Draught at Churchkey. Nice one, the brandy barrel is strongly present throughout the aroma and the flavor, maybe just a bit too present, actually.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Hoppy grapefruit aroma. Hoppy grapefruit flavor with rich malt and brandy backing. Medium-plus bodied. Grapefruit and pine lingers with rich malt.

Draft at Stone Bistro. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of caramel and over ripe fruits as well as a light note of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, over ripe fruits, and a light touch of brandy, leading to a dry and very woody finish. The alcohol burns lightly in the top of the throat.

On tap at Tria, Philadelphia 17-11-08. Pours dark, dark brown with a creamy off white head. Loz say’s that this tastes velvety, she’s right; it’s got a great mouthfeel to it. The brandy has really leeched into this beer, its smooth and sumptuous and really indulgent. There is quite a hoppiness that flicks out like the tongue of a snake testing the air but with hops being pushed into the outer reaches of your mouth, loads of dark molasses complete the picture and soften the hoppy assault, magic stuff this! On tap at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens on 08/03/2008 on day three of RBSG 2008. 2006 Vintage. Clear copper body with a small white head. Caramel and malt aroma. Sweet caramel flavor, light molassas and a brandy kick. Medium full body with low carbonation and a somewhat syrupy finish.

gunhaver has come through big bringing this tasty Stone growler full of 2006 vintage barrel aged Double Bastard all the way from SoCal. Pours crystal clear amber with frothy tan head. The aroma has tasty smelling dark fruity esters, chewy sweet malts, vanilla, a bit of wood, some booze and alcohol heat. The taste is a firm wedge of sweet vanilla. I also get more sweetness coming from chewy sticky gooey malts to go along with pine hop bitterness. Wow, smooth and yummy. I guess the only knock is the booze presence could be a bit bold. But a minor point really considering its brandy barrel aged.

2006 keg on tap. Pours with a small off-white head covering a murky brownish amber body. Aroma of brandy, raisins, dark fruits and chocolate. Taste is strong carmabel and brandy, still a bit too hot (alcohol wise), and unrefined compaired to the 2005 Double Bastard I had on tap last time. Some vanilla in the finish. Great!

From tap at Stone Bistro. Pours hazy brown with a lacing white head. Dense brandy aroma with a nice fruity and malty notes- Sweet prune flavour is the first impression followed by a sweet raisin flavour. Lingering sweet finish. Nicely fruity too.
