Notes from October 2009 First batch of this good time lager. Smokey lip as I lift the cap. Sly Fox pint glass at the ready. A warm glass gets me 3+ inches of lumpy, bright white head, which eventually levels off to a constant puddle of film. Color is a clear, slightly pale gold. Constant activity. Spicy/steel-ish lemon yeast, mentholated hops & well water on the nose. Slight whiff of aerosol. Some toasted bread & very minute butter. Meh. Bright, zesty hops upfront accentuated by tight carbonation. Cracker-ish malt, salt, & yeast. Finish dries out carrying toasty grain & pinch of minty/grassy hops. Alcohol is quite negligible, but there is significant potential for cottonmouth with a big enough serving of this. Taste is subjective. A good pale lager, but as slight & limited the flavor of this style is, a single bomber really isn't worth the price of 6-7 tallboys of Baltika(or whatever your preference is). Even a better choice, a competitively priced growler fill at 64 ounces a clip. Bad style choice for the pricey 22 format.

Bottled. Deep golden colour, small white head. Aroma is crisp bready and biscuity malts along with some grassy and herbal tones. Flavour is bready and biscuity crispness with a nice biting bitter grassy, herbal and slightly earthy hoppiness to it. Smooth and just lovely!

Draught at Deep Ellum upon debut (2009).
Pours a minimally hazy, deep brass-maize golden with a small-to-medium, white head that is dense and shows pretty good retention.
Nose is hoppy and very fruity in that regard. Ripe nectarine and peach with light grapefruit, lemon and marmalade. Very hoppy, though I had it when it was extremely fresh. Malts show light sourdough, honey and white bread with a fair amount of sweetness. No alcohol but definitely some resin from the hop.
Soft and very malty, with moderate, engaging carbonation and plentiful sourdough, honey and white bread with a good deal of sweetness, though not overdone there, and certainly more than balanced by the explosive amount of hops here. Nectarine, pine, pineapple and a plethora of citrus and strong herbs with moderate-to-strong bitterness, resin and lingering pine. Just too much hop acid for me.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a nice bready malt and a decent grassy hop. Flavor is and equally nice dry bready malt with not as much pronounced hop as the aroma led on. Finish is dry but there is an odd burning aftertaste after the swallow. It is very minor but it’s there. This is probably one of the most malt forward lagers it ever had.

Pours a clear amber from a bottle. Nose of pear, a little lemon. Flavor is a very nice hoppy lager, everything very well-balanced, starts off sweet, ends rather bitter. An excellent representative of the style. Very good beer.

Tap at The Jeffrey rating #2700. Golden beer normal white head. Nose is grainy and cereal. Tastes of Irish soda bread, the non marshmallow part of lucky charms, grainy, lemon, and florals. Bitter and hoppy. Crisp with a biting finish

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy light gold with a white head. Aroma is slightly cooked bready with hints of hop. Med body. Flavor is cooked bready with noble hop, and it develops a lot of bitterness in the finish. Fairly flavorful.

Bottle. Cloudy light golden body. Fizzy, white head. Aroma of lemon, grass, hay, toasted grain. Hint of vegetable. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture turning sticky, lively carbonation. Clean malts. The beer is on the sweet side though there’s some lingering bitterness. Taste of grass, hay.
