A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness.

12oz bottle pours a translucent, copper amber with some frothy white head. Nose has plenty of malt, biscuit, cracker, a little lemon, some light pear, earthy. Flavor is very malt forward, crackermeal, biscotti, almonds, light caramel, a little red grape. Medium bodied, dry, malty finish. As far as amber ales go... this is a pretty good one.

Tea-like bitterness (discreet) with a strong caramel overtone as well as a biscuity side. Earthy hops but malt controls this.

Had this on tap at Willards Tap House in largo fla. Sightly cloudy brown with a nice clean smell. Starts off on the buds mild but gets a little beefy as the session continues. A bit medicinal on the finish. Not too much co2 detectable in this brew.

Pours deep reddish gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Spicy caramel aromas. Slightly smoky with caramel upfront turning to mild resin in the dry, lasting finish.

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Pours amber with a slight beige head. Aroma is fruity. Flavor is malty and fruity. Touch of tobacco. Finishes with somewhat roasted malt, really light butter/diacetyl, and some hop. Starts to suggest toffee.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a thin beige head. The aroma is caramel, molasses, and fresh cut pine. The flavor is sweet up front and mildly bitter finish. The palate is light to medium, and a little sticky and astringent. Overall, a very drinkable, yet surprisingly complex beer.

Gaelic Ale is good, if boring, beer. Not that there’s generally much to get excited about from amber ales, but Gaelic provides a comforting familiarity in its malty depth; it tastes like the first time you went to a brewpub and tried a CRAFT BEER and found something you liked and could latch onto. It tastes like what good beer tasted like when you first figured out what bad beer tasted like. Gaelic is inoffensive, slightly sweet, slightly hoppy, better on tap than out of the bottle, but worthy of the occasional six-pack to share with non-beer geeks.
