Decent DIPA. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really live up to expectations and isn’t a standout for the style. It’s a nice looking beer. Transparent, light to medium gold, and a tight, white cap. The aroma is relatively weak, particularly in terms of hops. Hops are floral and a bit piney. The malt is a bit strong, contributing lots of caramel. There’s some pepper and spice in there, too. The flavor has too much residual sweetness for my taste, but there’s some good lingering bitterness. It’s just a bit too simple and weak in hops. It needs more of the delicate hop notes of the best in the style. The beer has some good body, though the sweetness really hurts it for me. It’s an alright beer, though not something that I’d trade for again or seek out otherwise.

Bottle marked as best by 08/08/10 thanks to SecretSanta. Pours with a clear orange body and a large, off-white head. Aroma of orange, orange peel, curacao, mango, flan and sticky toffee. Taste is bitter, alcohol forward, caramel, and some orange stickiness. Some citrus and floral notes. Really a lot of alcohol for the reported ABV. Dry finish, creamy carbonation. Good, but I wish it was fresher.

12oz bottle. Orange-brown color with a big steady, off-white head. Lots of astringent hops in the aroma. There is a solid hop backbone, but I feel this a more malt centered than most IIPAs. Sweet and rich, it doesn’t exactly hide it’s big alcohol. Dry, with some resiny tones, but never comes across as sticky or sugary. Well crafted, solid, balanced IIPA.

bottle - Pours hazy copper with a lingering off-white head. It has a huge citrus hop aroma. The flavor is similar with strong, grapefruit accented hops held up by a good malt backing. It’s crisp and full bodied with a long, bitter finish. Very solid.

Bottle imported by joshuahfl. Thanks guy!! Pours light orange/copper with a 3 finger foamy/frothy off-white head. Aroma is very cat pee. Medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is really a large amount of citric hop over a detectable malt backbone. The hop starts harsh, but into the finish it moderates into a sensual floral impression. This is really good ale.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark orange with a slight amber hue with an taupe head that dissipates slowly to a film around the edges. Aroma has a bit of pine hops and a sweet biscuit note. Flavor begins with strong pine hops, but a more refined grassy hop profile and sweet grains finish the beer.

Poured from 12 oz bottle while laying around the house on a relaxing Sunday. Appearance looks like pumpkin with a thin dissipating head. Aroma has a nice fruit / lemongrass balance, surprisingly not a hoppy aroma. Taste wise it’s hoppy but not as much as I thought it would be, typically these imperial IPA’s are just loaded with hops but this really isn’t. I’m tasting honey, grass, hops, and liquor. It’s pretty good.

Glowing gold with a white head. Loads of citrus, grass, earthy, and funky hops in this one. A bit of malt to balance it but not overly sweet like most imperial ipas. I could down a sixer of these except for that hidden 9% abv. Good stuff.
