Cask at American beer fest White Horse London. Brown coloured pour with small head. Malty, caramel fruity taste. OK for a session beer but quite forgettable really.

Bottle. Poured deep brown with thin beige head. Full malty aroma. Malty flavour, with nutty and toffee notes. Lasting pleasing finish. Just enough hoppiness. Note: don’t serve this too cold!

2006 bottle - Pours dark amber with a one finger lingering head. It has a light caramel malt aroma. The flavor is mostly malt as expected with some nutty flavor. Medium bodied and smooth, I thought it was kind of bland. I was expecting more from Sierra Nevada.

Pours a nice clear amber with off white head. It ahs a mild aroma of roasted malts and hints of a hoppy floral bouquet and slight astringency. The taste starts with a carbonated boost of mild hop bitterness, astringency and dusty maltiness. Later a richer roasted malt and caramelized malt flavor surfaced. The start seemed a bit sharp the style.

Bottle courtesy of Monger: Poured a deep brown color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with light hops. Taste is dominated by caramel and light molasses malt with a clean dry finish with some light hops. Body is pretty full for the style with some good carbonation. I thought this was very good for a style, which is too often boring.

2006 Bottle: Pours a deep mahogany color with a medium off-white head that has decent retention. Stringy lacing. The aroma is hoppy and nutty. Medium-bodied with a straightforward flavor of nuts, hops and malt. The finish is moderately bitter and short. This beer is like the majority produced by Sierra Nevada, well-made if not earth-shattering in any way.
