Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruit, malt, caramel, brettanomyces, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, caramel, alcohol, malt, and wood, leading to a dry alcoholic finish, where the over ripe fruits lingers.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of RCL. Pours an almost clear nutty brown with a tiny off-white head. Sweet caramel and brown sugar in the nose, somewhat oxidized. Solid body, hardly any carbonation, sweet caramel, oxidized Sherry notes, again brown sugar. Hardly any hops. Pretty blah. 290311

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours clear mahogany with thin copper edges and really no head at all. The aroma is sherry sweet sludgy malts, some prunes and plums. The taste is smooth and sweet with chewy hops, molasses, some prunes, dates, plums and a slender layer of sherry soy goodness. This is smooth sweet and d-lish.

Bottle at DC’s first tasting of 2010. This one is even sweeter than the 07, and alcohol is even more evident. Less malt character, and less complexity. Mixed sweet chocolate and slight sourness, but not well balanced.

Bottle sampled at the DC Local Tasting. Pours a translucent, brown with a creamy white head. Aroma is fruity, apples, pears, honey, flowers. Flavor is a little off, sweet and fruity, but a little tart, honey, caramel, but nothing is working together. Finish is sticky and a heavy lasting sweetness. Something’s not right here.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy brown color ale with a tiny foamy head with minimal retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry figs and raisins with some caramelized sugar and light alcoholic phenols. Taste is also dominated by loads of dry figs and raisins with some toffee and caramelized sugars – maybe a bit too much of the raisins come out with a finish that is overly sweet. Body is above average with minimal carbonation and light apparent alcohol. Not bad though not something I would have regularly.
