Tap at the Ginger Man, NYC, 18/05/13. Clear chestnut brown with a thin beige head. Nose is tiramisu, sugars, caramel, hops, biscuit notes. Taste comprises espresso coffee, malt, biscuit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dryish finish. Good stuff - how to make an amber ale tasty and interesting, coffee it up !

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 2/17/13
Aroma: The nose is mostly espresso/coffee, with some caramel malts, and mild earth
Appearance: This one pours a murky looking reddish color with a small beige head
Flavor: The taste like the nose, is coffee/espresso mostly, with a bitter coffee ground finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, it drinks fairly cleanly, has a tingly feel, and a dry, roasty finish
Overall Impression: I have mixed feeling on this one. On one hand, it is an interesting beer, but on the other hand it doesn't quite work. Still though, I like the concept of a coffee beer with an Amber (or other lighter style beer) base is an interesting one, and something I'd like to see another brewery try. Creative, but I like the idea more than the execution.

Pours a deep slightly hazy amber/orange with a huge frothy tan head that takes forever to recede. I can smell the coffee as soon as I pop the top off this bad boy. Holy coffee Batman the closer my nose gets the more intense the aroma. I can find little in the nose other than Java. If only the flavor followed the nose more closely. Lots of coffee flavor but also a bitter buttery earthy mineral flavor kicks in. Medium to thin body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick watery mouthfeel. Sadly this brew is not for me. I generally enjoy the peak products, but not this one.

Aroma is strongly of instant coffee. Wormwood and toffee notes are underneath. Clear dark copper, medium yellow head. Again, more of a coffee flavor than espresso which dominates. A dry, tangy malt note seems lost and out of place. Malty and grainy bitter finish. Fizzy. Yes, it is as odd as you would imagine. Nice intensity and balance, just a weird juxtaposition of flavors that never mesh. No significant improvement upon warming.

Bomber from Beer Run. Pours a clear dzrk amber color with a medium fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of coffee, caramel and a bit of toastiness and chocolate. The taste is bitter coffee, caramel malts and a faint caramel finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation and pretty drinkable.

- Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Color hazy amber, well carbonated producing quarter inch off white head. Great lace in the Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Nose is delightful freshly ground coffee bean. The carbonation dances across your tongue leaving a lively hint of coffee bitterness. A finely done amber with copious amounts of coffee throughout the brew. I will buy this again.
