On tap @ tjhe brewery. Dark color, but clear, a dark redbrown. Rocky light beige head. Aroma’s of pine needles/spruce, drop/licorice and hard roast, ground coffee. Retronasal there’s pine and roast. Flavor is bitter and roasted. Light bodied, could have used a bit more. Rather high carbo. Finishes roasted, almost ashy, and with a firm bitterness. I quite liked it.

Keg at the brewpub. Opaque black coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is bitter roasted grains, pine and lemon citrus hop, burnt toast. Flavour is composed of burnt wood, bitter roaster barley, and lemon hop, some charred pine needles. Palate is somewhat creamy in the mouth, high carbonation. Tangy bitter finish. OK black IPA, ticks all the style boxes but maybe a little rough round the edges.

On tap at t IJ. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of liquorice, pine, spruce, herbal stuff, laurel, roasted malts. Flavour is medium sweet, roasted malts, pine, lots of pine, spruce, firm herbal bitterness, some coffee/mocha, harsh herbal bitter finish, resin. Light bodied. Flamingo was so much better. God I hate those herbal piney hops.
