Can. So the Japanese make terrible beer also. I guess you can make bad beer anywhere.

Can from the local supermarket. Pale slightly cloudy orange colour with fast fading white head. Aroma is caramel and citrus hoppy. Bit weird. Bit of fruit in there too, apple and pear. Taste is bit too sweet, caramel is there in the background, but the sweetness is full on. Some fruitiness and a bit of a bitter finish, but it is all about the sweetness. Surprisingly flat in the mouth. I don't mind it in a weird way, but will probably not have it again.

Poured into a taster showing very low filtration, a dense/cloudy honey with dried apricot in appearance, sparse white foam around the edges. The nose shows very subtle dried apricot. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. A lot of light tart steel tank/copper notes. Light malt backbone to support the beer but generally not a lot except a simple English style pale ale. Personally, I find nothing to dislike about this beer. In terms of Japanese craft beer, this is surprisingly competent.

Can from Food & Company in Gakugei-Daigaku. Malty aroma (caramel and butterscotch) with hints of fruit on the nose. Taste is very malt forward with hints of prune and raisin. Sweet on the palate. Tart finish. I prefer their Komugi beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pale Ale on 14 May 2015 at 19:37 - Score: 5

zapach mleka i maślanych bułek, do tego lekkie drożdże. ładna, obfita piana, kolor bursztynowy, mocno zmętniony z dość brzydkimi frędzlami. w smaku słodko, znowu lekko maślany smak. niska goryczka i nasycenie. trochę jak maślane ciastka.

Can. 275 yen or so from Kyoto Isetan. Golden orange color with a ton of carbonation & a white fizzy head. A malty sweet aroma with a hint of caramel. Not too sweet though. The taste is a fairly well balanced malt forward pale ale sweet with a hint of tangy hop bite in the finish. Pretty refreshing actually but after having tons of American pale ales this is a completely different beast. Just thing of it as a regular ale & you won’t be so disappointed. Ok for when you want something malty & light but not too sweet.

Can. An unclear light amber beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of brewmash and grain. The flavor is sweet with notes of metal, brewmash, caramel, straw, and a bit of malt, leading to a dry metallic finish. Thanks Theis for sharing.
