Bottle shared at the 6th annual Richmond Industry Gathering, 11/27/11. Pours a hazy amber color with a thin creamy head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee malts, raisins, faint spices and faint hops. The taste is toffee malts, raisins, spices and earthy hops. Medium bodied.

Cloudy dark brown beer. Not much head. Light crisp and slightly dry. Brewed with raisans - the taste of them is in there but evenly matched with some toffee caramel. Ends with mild aniseed alcohol. Strangely lightly flavoured and easy going for a 9% beer!

Bottled, early 2007 (2006 version). Dark brown brew, not much head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate & fruit (raisins). Sweet flavor with raisins. Medium bodied. Long finish, but no new flavor. Alcohol is well hidden. Good double, very flavorful.

Bottle pours a hazy deep redish amber with a small tan head. Malty apple cidery and pitted fruit. Rich carmel flavors, and the raosons contribute. Stable and plain but smooth amd drinkable.

I really wanted to get this beer because the Belgian style beer they made before this (Saison) was so freaking amazing. So I went out to trade for this and Pitonka/5000 was able to provide it, thanks Andre. It pours with no head and a ring of lacing. The color is dark brown and gets murky with the yeasty part. Aroma is a very spicy, piny and some ammonia mixed in with light bread-y raisin more traditional dubbel aspects. Taste is again piny, spicy with light black bread and raisin. Altogether the more traditional dubbel aspects are watered down in its place are the weird wet wood mixed with some off flavors and a mineral quality. The yeasty part adds a bit more body and overwhelms the negative aspects but not enough to think this will improve with age. A bit too light on the body and low bitterness. It’s almost more of a spiced beer than a dubbel but either way it lacks enough substance.
22oz bottle, Rodenbach Grand Cru tulip glass.

Bomber from Bottle Barn; 2006; Nose is very fruity, like raisiny, sweet with clovey spices, and vanilla hints; Hazy rusty red with a small beige head; flavor has raisin pie, yeast, and some light hop bitterness, along with some light peppery spices. Pretty good double, quite drinkable!

Bottle. Ruby/mahogony beer with a light tan head. Yeasty, dark malt aroma. Malty, yeasty, slight fig/raisin flavor with backing dark malts and some breadiness. Medium body. Lingering caramel malt, yeast, and breadiness.

Brown, tan head.Nose of raisins, brown sugar but slightly astringent.Dark malts and fruits, medium alcohol heat actually detracts from flavor instead of enhancing it. Not a great effort

Rich malty aroma. Deep ripe apricot color, approaching brown. A thin white ring is all the head. Starts lightly spiced and malty, quickly give a burst of sugary sweetness, then passes to something like a brown ale taste, followed by a small amount of hop. The alcohol is definitely noticeable. Quite warming.
