Draft @ LCBF 2015. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate and orange woody aroma. Roasted malty woody Grand Marnier Chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty woody chocolate and orange finish.

330ml can from the Magic Rock website. Pours dark, tan head. Taste is rich, chocolatey, good layered dark malts but sadly no detectable Grand Marnier / orange present. For an Imperial Stout it’s spot on, but disappointing for what’s supposed to be.

Can. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Clear, darkest chocolate brown. Film of dense, tan head. The beer itself clings to every bit of the glass. Nose has Grand Marnier in spades. Orangey and boozy, and a little bit woody. Some cocoa powder. Undertones of Pontefract cake and black treacle. Taste is light, treacly sweet. Turns dark chocolate, orange zest bitter. Mouthfeel is perfect. Rich but not clarty. Smooth and silky. Hint of dryness. Finishes soft, orangey, chocolatey bitter. Beautiful.

Can. Nose is chocolate orange, vanilla, hint of strawberry and cream, boozy bourbon note, candy sugar. Taste is chocolate orange, chocolate, vanilla, hint of coffee, roasted notes, more vanilla, lots more orange, dark chocolate, cherry, slight woody notes, sugar, more dark chocolate, a slight spiciness in the orange chocolate finish. Further sips gives a little mint, hints of prunes, and dried fruit. I am not always that keen on novelty flavored beers, but this is done very well, and while sweet it doesn’t become cloying at the finish is balanced and well done.

Draught@CBC2015 (blue session). Black colour with a small beigeish brown head, which leaves lace. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, some roasted malts, caramel, mild zestiness as well as some barrel and mild vanilla. Flavour is quite similar, but also has a sweet sting of alcohol to it. Balanced, but not one of my faves.
