330ml bottle from Sterk, Amsterdam. Pours dark brown, almost black with a thick foamy light brown head. Aroma of buttery bourbon, popcorn, vanilla, roasty malts, chocolate, wood, vanilla and oak. Taste is sweet, roasty and oaky with loads of bourbon, wood, popcorn, butter, vanilla and syrup. Finish is a total bourbon overdose with loads of buttery oaky notes, hints of vanilla, popcorn, wood and toffee. A bit unbalanced, too much bourbon here, but I kinda like this still.

330 ml. bottle split on the train after Brugs Beer Festival 2017. Black, solid creamy mocha head. Nose is liquorice, roast, caramel, mocha, little bourbon,… Taste is cheap chocolate milk, sugar, low roast, bit herbal but overall sweet brown sugar, basic chocolate, little bourbon but pleasant basic chocolate, sugar,… Simple bodied, lacking some bourbon, not the best in style but pleasant stuff for sure.

Clear dark purple brown beer, big creamy beige head, very stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very malty, roasted, grains, lots of alcohol, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, roasted, bit sweet, chocolate, bit sourish. Aftertaste: sourish, roasted, alcohol, more alcohol, lots of caramel, rather sweet, more chocolate, bitter, cocoa powder. Nice!
Basementonline check-in. Geur beter dan smaak

Fles van het Biermoment. Prachtige barrel aging, subtiel in de vanille en de koekjes, bovenop een droppige RIS. --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Nr. 05 Heaven Hill on 20 Aug 2017 at 00:12 - Score: 9. Bottle thanks to Benzai - in honor of my Grandfather- pours dark brown with tan head - nose and taste of burnt oak, fudgy caramel and bitter chocolate all mixed into a shot of watered down whiskey - boozy. Unbalanced but not unpleasant. medium body

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown to dark brown colored head that lasts for a short while but leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, liquor. Taste malts, liquor, dark malts, some roast, brown malts, malt bitter, bitter. Even after a short break it still comes across quite alcoholic so in the end, while it started out ok, I’d say it’s not very balanced and the barrel aging -meaning: the liquor/alcohol- is too dominantly present. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.
