An intense brew first enjoyed by the British aristocracy during the Industrial Revolution. Already on the nose, you can feel the drink's thick core of lightly caramelized malts, which is refreshed by the resinous pine buds and the spooky wild rosemary. The tongue literally gets stuck in the maltiness, only to be rescued by the bitterness of the hops, all of which lingers into sticky warmth.

Shared 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Jørpeland. ABV is 11.4%, Deep brownish red colour, off-white head. Aroma of malts and over-ripe red berries, notes of herbs. Sweet malty flavour, distinct notes of strange herbs, some bittering hops in the finish. Weird, but interesting.

330ml bottle with a nice design, kindly shared by Snegurochka and TheCellarer. Clear red-brown body, remaining beige head, clingy lacing. Caramel nose added by spices and earth. Honeyed malts to the taste buds alongside moments of spices and herbal fruits, jam like impression. Smooth and warming end. Full bodied. Decent sipper qualities. (Session in Tårnrommet with Finn, TheCellarer and Snegurochka, Tromsø 14.11.2017).

herbal berley wine, 11.4%, 0,5L bottle, pours nice brown witha a red hue and a light brown head. Aroma is pretty sweet, grain, herbal, some honey?, dark fruits. Taste is very bitter for a barley wine, firmly alcoholic, quite herbal, some scharp, pine, lots of wood flavors, pine, needles, branches, etc.. quite remarkable and very nice

Thick, cream-yellow head, stable over fully hazy dark red-brown beer. End of bottle features some awe-inspiring UFO’s. Vinous, dried red berries, chocolate, oak, loden, Christmas wreaths, fusels. Very complex, ’deep’ nose. Bitter, lots of chocolate, bit of resin, eggnog; again this X-mas wreath idea, berries on alcohol; and a just slightly acidic lining in the finish. And despite all these fireworks, the beer remains balanced! After some time, it starts finishing a tad wry. Rich, alcoholic-hot, smooth and yet good carbonation. This is an absolutely GREAT (G**, has that word been hollowed out by that joker in Washington!!) beer! 8/4/8/4/18

Borefts Beer Festival 7th edition day 1 25/09/2016. A hazed reddy amber coloured pour with a lasting fine off white head. Aroma is red berries, cranberry, earthy honey, forest fruits. Flavour is composed of nice full sticky red berries, jammy fruits, raspberry fruits, cakey malts. Palate is moderate carbonation, sticky. Good stuff. Quite unique.

Draft sample @ TCBW ’16.
