An enigmatic dark lager with a nose of dark roasted coffee and chocolate, joined by just enough freshly foraged Wicklow pine to freshen, lighten, stimulate and intrigue. On the palate, the clean lager fermentation allows the Dark malts take centre stage, backed up by the subtle fruitiness and pleasant acidity from the blackcurrant addition. Medium body with a soft carbonation rounds this out, giving a mysterious, but eminently smashable beer.

Sampled at The Hague Craft. Clear dark brown with small beige head. Old wood, dry roasted malts, old coffee, blackberries, earthy, almost burnt fancy grains like buckwheat, slick earthy dry wine. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with slick feel. Weird.

440ml can at home labeled “Black Pine Rising”, pours cola like black with a medium tan head. Aroma of black chocolate and freshly brewed coffee. Clean flavour of roasted malt, chocolate malt, not getting a ton of pine here, very slight. Nice clean finish
