Sour Brown Ale Aged in Oak Foeders
The Wild One® begins, not as a single beer, but distinct batches fermented in wooden foeders each with its own array of flavors. Our brewers sample and blend to taste, resulting in a refreshing brown ale with a tartness buoyed by fragrant aromas of ripe cherry, apple and a bit of funk from Brettanomyces yeast.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clear copperish amber with almost no head. Tart vinegar notes, lots of oak and faint cherry skins with some strawberry as it warms. Cherry and oak notes stronger on the palate. Some light yogurt and bright strawberry. Tart on the finish, somewhat similar to a Flemish red. Nice, but missing something maybe. --- Beer merged from original tick of The Wild One on 29 Dec 2017 at 23:46 - Score: 7. Original review text: Tart vinegar notes, lots of oak. Cherry and oak notes. Really drinkable.

Thank you Koelschtrinker. 750 ml. bottle sampled @ Pre-Borefts Ratebeer Tasting 2016. Dark amber, tanned head. Nose is sour pleasant puckering vinegar oak, sour acidic dark fruits with touch nail polish. Taste is sour but a bit more mellow than the smell, lightly fizzy, low oxidation (quite a bit of age on this one probably), huge oak, USA sour acidic affair at its prime, dark fruits, low balsamic vinegar in a good way. Potent big, lovely USA sour. Quite a beer.

Bottle. Dark amber-ruby color with tan ring. Aroma is candy, some dark malts. Taste is candy, dark malts, cherry. Fizzy carbonation. Not excellent for my palate, a bit too dark for me, but certainly well made.

Bottle at the pre-Borefts tasting, Den Haag, 2016. Poured a clear dark amber with a thin broken white head. The flavour is light sour with a rich smooth citrus sour doughy biscuit yeast palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.
