Sour Brown Ale Aged in Oak Foeders

The Wild One® begins, not as a single beer, but distinct batches fermented in wooden foeders each with its own array of flavors. Our brewers sample and blend to taste, resulting in a refreshing brown ale with a tartness buoyed by fragrant aromas of ripe cherry, apple and a bit of funk from Brettanomyces yeast.

Sampled on draft at Smokin' Joe's this beer poured a brown color with a medium sized off white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was tart, sour and vinegary. The flavor was very sour with cider vinegar, bread and molasses. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Taste on draft at Trail's End. Pours brown, with a thick, tan head. The nose is hay, lime, caramel and toffee, cinnamon, and almonds. Sweet, with a lovely, light sour flavor. Light body, with an effervescent and crisp mouthfeel. Lovely, simple, sour brown aromas, and almost perfect sweet and sour balance. Thoroughly enjoyable, and very well made.

Poured from bottle 637 of 826 batch k10851 thanks Brian nice cherry color no head. Aroma is tart ligjt funk berry. Taste is jammy berry followed by a nice little pucker of tartness through the finish. This held up well. The aroma had me thinking it was a vinegar bomb. Nice.
