Nestled in the bay just off the coast, Boston's Harbor Islands are rich with history and intrigue. Each is known for its unique appeal and backstory, with a string of larger narratives tying them together en masse. The Harbor Islands IPA series grew out of the exploration that took place in our Permutation Series, where we developed a new series of IPAs that showcases extraordinary hops, building on our team's experience brewing hoppy beer at Trillium.
Peddocks Island is the first installment in the Harbor Islands series - brewed with the signature Citra hop. The beer pours orange with enticing haze, and starts tropical with pineapple, mango and a touch of citrus on the nose. Fresh oranges take the lead on the flavor, with pineapple and grapefruit pith following, and a touch of candied peach sweetness following. Overall, a Citra saturated beer that showcases the vast array of incredible aromas and flavors that hops bring out.

As Permutation 38, canned 5/16/18, drunk 6/2/18.
Deep bronze-maize-golden. White head fades quickly to a ring. Cloudy-to-soupy.
Tangerine, lime and light pine all rise up juicily, with moderate pineapple and strong mango. Low ester sharpness and no alcohol. Pine picks up somewhat, but never gets resinous or overwhelms the juicy, semi-tropical nature. Helps balance the perceived sweetness, even and it all comes out splendidly balanced for a NE IPA, bursting with fruit and juice.
Tons of biscuit, cereal helps create a supportive texture while giving the moderate sweetness something to soak in to. Juicy tangerine, peach and pineapple all are presented well, with no twang. Lime-like bitterness with pine accents, helps balance. Soft, drying nicely with supple malt and good biscuit character for additional texture. Juicy fruits continue on with melon and even slight bubble gum ester on the end. This new fermentation profile has shifted more towards Tree House style and I'm VERY MUCH OK with that. No alcohol, resin or flaw. Tight carbonation, though quite low. 7/4/8/4/16
As Peddock's Isle on tap at Trillium Garden, 7/27/18.
Super orange juice smoothie appearance. White head to ring.
Pineapple and nectarine are strong in the nose and very tangy, with lightly twangy papaya. Low malt character in the nose, more dry biscuit and cracker.
In the mouth it shows juicy melon and bubble gum from the yeast with a lot of citrus and a bit of booze across the palate to dull things slightly. Not sure I love the super dry, cracker-heavy, lighter bodied profile of this series. Gets much juicier and softer, though, with warming and the alcohol seems to disappear. Becomes quite nice and the dryness is probably for the best, drinkability-wise, but I can't help missing the malt richness of Perm 38.

16 oz. can. (Thanks to Chalumeaux, or Stacey on the trade) Date of 5-16-18. Having sampled Perm 40 & 39 right before this, I welcomed this immensely. Darker straw color, with light head and retention. Aroma shows grapefruit, mango, and subtle pine.
Wow! IPA's are so much better when there is no lactose sugar to screw up the profile!! Flavor is grapefruit, orange, and a pleasant pine bitterness that you should find in an IPA. Malt balances without the use of unfermentable sugar. (What a concept !!) With my sarcasm aside, this is what Trillium is known to brew and should keep brewing. Leave the lactose out of the IPA's.

Pours a hazy, darker-orange yellow, with smallish head. Strong aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. Flavor is very citrusy and tropical fruit, with more than a little pine/spruce hop bite in the finish. The best of both worlds and a very tasty IPA. More, please.

Pours murky apple cider into a tulip. Head quickly recedes to nothing. Mango, pineapple and papaya aromas. Gritty with orange, mango and passion fruit upfront turning dry in the dusty pith and peel finish.
