Poured from an under filled 32 oz crowler purchased earlier today. Aroma is malt forward with lots of toasted bread, nuts, caramel and toffee. Light fruity notes of raisin, prune and dates. Hints of floral esters. Pours an auburn-brown with some dark amber hues on the edges and a medium large, thick, pillowy, tan head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and no legs. Flavor has a light sweetness with lots of malt character. Lots of toasted bread with light notes of caramel, toffee and nuts. Light notes of raisin and dates. Medium light bitterness and faint alcohol. Faint fruity and floral esters. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer. Good malt profile and clean fermentation.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a dark brown color with a khaki/tan head. The aroma is rich and malty with lots of caramel, butterscotch, earth and a touch of smoke. The flavor is the same. Very rich on the palate with butterscotch, malt syrup, earth and smoke. Quite complex and very satisfying. It has moderate to strong sweetness that belies the relatively low gravity. I appreciate the attempt at a style that we don’t see around here very often. I enjoyed it.
