Hopfig malziger Antrunk, schokoladig, vollmundig. Im Mittelteil zuckrig, dennoch vergleichsweise süffig, mit der Zeit bitterer. Malziges Ende. Gut! 9/10/8/10/9/10

750ml bottle at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki, courtesy of skullgeorge. Dark brown color with light beige head. Aroma is malty, light chocolate, fruity hoppy. Sweet and light bitter taste like the aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle from the brewery. Slightly cloudy dark amber with a large pillowy beige head that fades slowly leaving lots of lace. Molasses and caramel are dominant on the nose with roasted nuts, dark fruit and a good helping of pine. Lightly sweet roasted malt and dark fruit start things off before a moderate bitterness appears along with a nuttiness faint in the background. Alcohol definitely present but not overpowering. Medium full creamy mouth with soft carbonation and a rather dry finish.

This ale poured a deep amber colour with a nice, big light brown head. Scents include cocoa, caramel, root vegetables and dirt. First swig was quite powerful in the flavour. Tastes of cocoa, coffee and sweet malt. finish is quite burnt with a sweet malt flavour lingering.

(On tap at the Cloak and Dagger, Toronto, Sept 16 2014) Pours a clear cola colour with a moderate dense white head and lots of lace. Aroma has lots of fresh conifer needles and some mango and orange zest, underneath is a lightly nutty and slightly sweet darker malt character. On the palate, sweet darker malts at the core early on, slight cola flavour, then come the hops. Candied orange rind, hop resin, green mango, conifer, sweet malt core still persisting underneath. Finish is bitter and resinous, light coffee and toast, a bit herbal. Medicinal resin-heavy aftertaste, lingering nutty dark malt almost survives underneath. Alcohol heat present put not overwhelming. Despite all the malt sweetness, ends dry as a bone. Medium body with medium-high carb. Good stuff, lovely ASA. Good malt and hop character that work in perfect harmony, makes you want another to detriment of sobriety.

Enjoyed a pint at Arrow & the Loon. Pours a deep amber colour with a big creamy beige head, super long lasting and with decent lacing. Fruity nose with citrus notes and light grass. Hints of grapefruits. Eventually, nutty notes comes out in the aftertaste. Smooth, slightly creamy mouthfeel with alcohol nicely hidden. The taste starts off fruity, malty with a nice bitter finish and then, lingering with the fruitiness. Would not know about alcohol content except for the buzz. Quite nice overall and an interesting hybrid beer.

Cask - Malty sweetness and floral hops. Hazy brown with a rich beige head. Malty and fruit with some hops and a bitterness that is slightly acrid and medicinal.

A hazed brown ale with a thin creamy lacing mocha head. In aroma, beautiful sweet fruity chocolate malt with light coffee, floral and resinous hops, grapefruit pulp, very nice. In mouth, a nice nutty chocolate and caramel malt with light coffee, floral resinous hops, light grapefruit notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at Arrow and Loon.
