Ein Barley Wine aus der Steiermark. Mindestens 6 Monate gereift. Leuchtendes Rotbraun, in der Nase süßlich, erinnert ein wenig an Nüsse und Nougat. Voller süßlicher Antrunk, mit einem Hauch von Erdbeeren, der Nachtrunk ist dann deutlich bitter.

0,1l on tap at Craft Beer Festival Graz as "Forstner 5 vor Zwölf 11.41%" shared by Saeglopur, thanks. dark brown / almost black color, small coffee-colored head. smells wood, some roast, spices, light vegetables, licorice. decent smell. full body, soft carbonation, oily mouthfeel. tastes spices, some wood, obvious alcohol, sweetness, licorice, liquerish. finishes with warming alcohol and notes of licorice and spices. decent enough, has a lightly unclean taste, overall good stuff though, rather alcoholic.

Sampled from bottle at Craft Beer Festival Graz.
Dark brown body, with a small, dark beige head.
Aroma of dark chocolate, dark and dried fruits, cocoa, some coffee.
Tastes of dried fruits, caramel, dark chocolate, cocoa, some tobacco, some coffee, alcohol.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes warm, boozy, sweet, a bit dry, with fruits, cocoa, some tobacco, slight coffee.
Very nice. Big, complex and boozy, inbetween a Belgian Strong and a Barley Wine. Although pretty sweet, also with some pleasant dryness, so that it doesn’t get sticky. Propably my favourite beer by Forstner so far.

Runder aber bereits intensiver Antrunk mit leichtem Alkohol. Hell, wenig hopfig, etwas brennend zum Ende, erstaunlich und positiv wenig süß. Gut! 7/11/9/12//11

09/04 0.33 l bottle ogivlado got at the brewpub, huge thanks for sharing! It poured a brown body with no head at all. Caramel malty and sugary aroma. Brandy-ish flavor, sweet sugary sticky and caramelly with figs, some dark fruits and licorice. A bit out of balance with all that alcohol. Warming, sweet prolonged finish. This should be aged, I think it will reveal its true quality then only. Similar beer to Samichlaus, now far below by quality but it could easily become better with aging.

Bottled(330ml). -Only 400bottles, all sold out. 15€ bottle. Samichlaus like beer. Clear amber coloured, almost no head, caramel alcoholic nose. Sweet malt, dark fruits and warming alcohol. Notes of figs and caramel. A bit unbalanced, but after few more tries I think it’s gonna be excellent. So far quality doesn’t match the price. Vintage 2007.

Huge, huge thanks to ogivlado, who found it at the brewpub, for sharing it with me and heavy. Poured a nice red-amber body witha almost no head. Somewhat simple nose, caramel and grainy maltiness. Sweet taste, some chocolate, figs, raisins, grain, beets?, slightly herbal, a bit sticky. Caramel, light honey. Only light alcohol. Tasty, but, as Ogi said, this brewery has kinda spoiled us and we expected more. Needs just some more balance to be a great beer.
