500ml bottle. Dark reddish body with a beige head. Hoppy citrus aroma. Flavor is malt, hop, slightly roasted. Nice flavor and surprisingly light body, not a negative thing in this case.

Bottle (750ml): Black coloured with reddish tints, small, but stable yellowish head; sweet, a bit alcoholic, nose with dark fruits, caramel and toasted malt; medium to full-bodied, quite full sweet-bitter flavour; sweetish-fruity finish, gets quickly drier and coffeeish in the aftertaste. A good session beer, devilishly moreish....

Bryg no.7-Januar 2007.
Pours a deep cola colour, almost no head (tiny pale brown), odd but pleasant flowery licorice nose. Roasted malt, burnt sugar and bitter coffee aroma with notes of melon. Very smooth with notes of licorice in the finish.

The second beer shared with ozujsko that we got from Papsoe Batch no.7 - January 2007 This seemed like an interesting concept, a black beer with belgian yeast.... and it smelled and looked exactly as it should. Opaque very dark brown/nearly black colour, teeny tiny brown head that went away immediately. Like cola I guess. The nose was lovely and complex, bubblegum liquorice, honey, chocolate with orange bits in, and weak notes of coffee and maybe alcohol. The taste turned out to be a bit of a letdown after that. It was nice and smooth with a distinct note of melon, weak weak banana, and the omnipresent earthy/coffeeish roasted malt. Fine, not as complex in taste as I hoped. More like a good schwarzbier or dryer dunkel than either a stout or a belgian ale.

(Bottle 50 cl) Completely black and opaque with an almost absent, off-white head. Sweetish, fruity aroma with some yeast. Rather full body with sweetish, roasted malt accents and yeast and sugar. Lightly burned bitterness. Intended as a Stout but ended up more like a Belgian ale. Courtesy of Elisabeth. 150207

Bottled. A hazy dark brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet, but also with an acidity, and notes of roasted malt, as well as anise and light notes of licorice. The flavor is sweet with notes of dark sweet chocolate, herbs, and anise, and towards the end light notes of coffee appears. The mouthfeel is very smooth.
