On tap at Medvedgrad Adžijina. Pours unclear with creamy off-white head. Caramel malts, dried fruit, quite sweet. Medium to full bodied. After Božićno this is another nice seasonal beer by Medvedgrad.

Dec ’14. On tap at their place. It poured muddy brown body with medium sized head. Caramel malt aroma, also sugary with some semi-dried dark fruits. Yeast was evident, too. Flavor was also sweet, too much. Yeasty, sugary, caramel...no complexity here. A bit warming in the finish, but alcohol was very well hidden all the way true, I admit that. On a blind tasting I wouldn’t guess the style, I would even be sure it’s a lager. Unfortunately, my thrill about their special in personal favorite style turned into another disappointment. Very glad to have it tried though and to see it being done anyway!

From tap at prerelease tasting at Medvedgrad Ilica. Murky brown coloured, small to medium sized tan head, mild dried fruits and whiff of alcohol in the finish. Sweet malty, light caramel, dried fruits and soft alcohol presence with nutty caramel notes in the finish. Without any exaggeration this one is seriously damn good stuff.

On tap at Medvedgrad’s 20th birthday party. The beer was on the house so huge thanks to the owners for that. Pours reddish-brown with big beige head. Wine like aroma and definitely some red fruits. Quite dry and alcoholic, fruity sourness and some sweetness. Full body, tasty and chewy. A strong beer, but you’ll be wanting seconds. Nicely done in style. Happy birthday, Medvedgrad! Cheers!

At the "special" prerelease @Medvedgrad Ilica. So there you go. 20°P for 20 years of Medvedgrad. First Belgian-style beer brewed commercially in Croatia. Strongest beer brewed in Croatia, possibly ever. Leaps and bounds, people, leaps and bounds. This poured a murky, brown-amber body, with a small, lasting beige head. The aroma definitely shows promise... pleasant, malty, fruity (?peach?), gummy, not overbearingly sweet, showing some alcohol presence without revealing it fully. Quite respectable! The taste tones down on the complexity, definitely slightly on the sweet side, but far from excessively so. Slightly too cold at first, it gave off a dry yeasty note, but that was quickly gone, leaving the pleasant., somewhat caramelly maltiness behind to mingle with mild gummy notes and that vague fruitiness that vaguely, just vaguely reminded me of peach. And none of the alcohol it promised for a second. It definitely grew on me. Shame it wasn’t conditioned longer, as it definitely has potential to grow into something even better, but, even like this, a bit warm, it’s a very, very nice beer and a very nice addition to the market. Good job, Medvedgrad!
