Tasting @ Tim's.Pours dark brown with just a bit of beige foam on top. Nose sweetish with some cocoa character and touch of vanilla. Taste has sweetness, some booze, vanilla and coconut. Some booze bitterness. Sweeter than non-barrel version, interesting ashy part coming after. Black bread is somewhat gone and finish has light bitterness, herbal liquorice linger. Good but has lost its black bread character original version had.

12oz bottle pours a cola brown with some frothy, sticky, off white head. Nose has butterscotch, cola, brown sugar, licorice, some wet wood noses, sumac. Flavor follows, chewy with malt and grain and molasses, black licorice too, cola, BBQ sauce, some cocoa powder. Barrel here is a little washed out, some light vanilla notes, but the malt is still standing strong. Finishes full bodied, oily and a little boozy.

(330ml bottle @ Cafe de Koffer, Groningen, Aug 21/17) Pours dark brown with a very small and sparse dark tan head that disappears instantly. Aroma is fairly sweet with layers of dark burnt sugars, toast, roasted nuts, light tar, anise, cacao/coffee bean touches, woody tobacco notes and quite subtle bourbon. Flavour is again a bit sweeter and rounder than many De Molen stouts, with muscovado, molasses, stewed fig, earth, roasted cacao, soft vanilla, wood, leather, toast, light bourbon. Finish is lightly sweet and lightly bitter from the roast, with alcohol well hidden. Medium bodied, below average carbonation. Good stuff.

Finishes sweet with lingering bourbon notes and dark malts. Very fine bourbon barrel ageing.

Bottle split at Hackney Levels, thanks to Dirty D, 08/06/17. Mahogany brown with a decent beige head. Nose is light bourbon, chocolate, spice, fruit loaf, toffee fudge. Taste comprises dark chocolate, spice, mellow barrel, toffee, dark fruit rinds. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a light rising boost. Decent Impy affair ... easy drinking avec mellow barrel ... well balanced.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Danny. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Big aroma, rich roast, hearty cocoa, some toffee, ripening berries. Medium to big sweet flavour with nicely rounded dark malt character, some roast, toffee, booze, vanilla. Full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Pretty good balance on the finish, some brownies, more toasted toffee, vanilla, dried berries. Great stuff.
