Our first rye beer. We wanted a beer that showcases the spicy, full flavour of rye malt while also having it add its own unique complexity to the bitterness. It pours a little hazy with a solid, off white head. On the nose you get a very strong rye aroma balanced with hints of pine and subtle earthy and floral notes. The flavour is an upfront spicy bitterness from the rye followed by a toffee-like sweetness giving way to a mouth filling bitterness that lingers long after the first sip. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Perfect for autumn nights.

On tap at the brewery. Unclear dark amber coloured, medium sized creamy off-white head, citrusy fruity and whiff of caramel in the nose. Sweet malty, rye bread, light fruity and herbal hoppy with touch of orange (Jaffa cakes like). Bitterish/sweet finish with notes of herbs.

On tap at the Craft Room, Opatovina, Zagreb. Reddish brown, murky, small off-white head. Toasty, rye bread, some dry fruits and hints of hops. Medium body, medium carbonation. Sweetish, some hops in the finish.

On tap at BeerYard Festival, Zagreb. It poured a hazy copper to brown body with a smaller ivory head. Light hops with rye and caramel in aroma. Flavor lightly bitter and, ehm, phenolic, with pleasant roasted rye notes and some herbal to citrus hops, but not much. Medium bodied with longer bitter and lightly sour finish. Grainy, bready (rye), herbal dry. All in all, didn’t impress me at all, aside light off notes it was pretty messy. It could be much better developed, it has potential to be really good connecting the dots of tasting with all I read in the description.

Rerate @Garden’s 1st birthday party. Remains largely the same, a specific, intensive perfumey taste mixing rye notes with some hoppiness, but this time quite leaner and more drinkable. I’m staying by the numbers I gave it before, they were slightly higher than they should be before, and completely on spot now. Debut @BeerYard. Amber red/brown body. Didn’t note the head, slightly off white I think. Dark bread-style rye, pine and citrus fruit in the aroma, rye-galore! Quite strong taste, rye, black bread, light citrusy hoppiness. A bit on the heavy side, sliiightly sweetish, but not much. Quite interesting and nice actually. Great job!
