An eminently drinkable pale session ale. Subtle malt and floral notes are matched splendidly with citrus hop, rounded off with a slightly dry finish.

“Ay/ Ey Up mi duck” is a phrase that is well used around the East Midlands area and was the inspiration for the name of the brewery.
It is also the name of what has become our best selling beer but back in 2010 when the pump clip was being designed Rachel was adamant that it was spelt “Ay Up” whereas her husband Ian was firmly in the “Ey Up” camp.

Not wanting to upset anyone before we had even started we decided to get pump clips with both options on and give the landlords and ladies the choice.

The most popular spelling turned out to be “Ay Up” but we still keep both pump clips in stock and if you keep your eyes open you may spot the odd “Ey Up” every now and then!

Cask at the Woodman, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is grassy hop citrus. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light watery hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Handpull cask at the New Zealand Arms, Derby. Very light gold, some carbonation and a small white head. Light aroma of lemon peel and fresh grapefruit. It tastes fruity and bittersweet, very pleasant but the finish is noticeably short. It’s actually a lovely little light beer, even if there’s not a lot to it.

Half, cask, shared with Finn at New Zealand Arms. A pearl white head blanketing the glass. Clear yellow-gold body content. Fruit hoppy aroma, mid-sweet. Taste of oily hops added by lemon and orange, mid-sweet malt beneath. Short fruit bitter tail. Refreshing and easy to quaff (Derby 16.02.2016).

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 27 Nov 2015) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with bread, orange and grass. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, toast, citrus, grass and a balanced floral bitterness. Light body, with a touch of sweetness. Fresh and tasty. Quite nice.
