Crosse Keys, Bank 5 Nov 12. JDW festivaløl. Dyp brun. Lavt luftig skum som fester seg litt til glasset. Svakt fruktig aroma. Smaken litt tynn. Svisker. Ettersmaken det samme. Avslutter tørt.

Festival cask ale at Crosse Keys, one third pint. Clear brown body, shiny surface. Caramel and earth malts to the nose. Brittle caramel taste profile. Dry malt hoppy ending. Tasty (London, 05.11.2012).

Cask @ Muckle Cross, Elgin 201112
Copper amber, clear, thin white head, some lacing
Aroma of soft caramel malts, soft bitter woody hops, light biscuit malts, very light aroma
Taste - light caramel malts, light spicy hops, soft toasted malts, very very light fruits - standard bitter - under flavoured for the abv
Palate - thinnish body, soft bitter palate. Finish as main flavour, light bitter toasted malt tail
Overall - Standard bitter, bit better than usual Everards beer but it’s still bland and underflavoured

Hand-pulled pint in Montgomery’s Towers (a Spoons in Shrewsbury) on 1st Nov 2012: one of the many beers in the Spoons 2012 Real Ale Festival. Wetherspoons claim it has been brewed purely for their festival which could well be true. Amber body, clean and clear looking, the head both creamy in colour and texture. Toasted, roasted malty aroma, some caramel and toffee notes but no overly sweet in the smell or taste. Not the most exciting beer on earth but it does have a flavour and taste: malty and fruity with a semi-dry finish, not bad at all.
