This bottle conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using locally grown Cornish gold malt, traditionally malted using a special kilning process to develop a deep bronze colour and intense flavour. The sweet, lightly nutty malt balances well with zesty orange and spicy aromas from the hops.

Produced by St Austell Brewery for M&S.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from the Whiteleys M&S. Pours perfectly clear, rich amber-gold with a slender, creamy off-white head. The aroma holds lightly toasted grains, bread, light leafy hops, ripe berries. Light-medium sweet flavour with some doughy and lightly grainy bread, mild caramel, subtle earthy bitterness, faint citrus rind, toasted biscuits. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty well balanced on the finish, with more toasty and bready sugars, berries, light grape, mellow leaves and dry caramel. An easy-drinking ESB.

Bottle. Clear amber/ruby body with a thin white head that slowly fades. Low carbonation. Almost no lacing. Aroma of toffee, fig and candy. Flavour of caramel, brown sugar and dried leaves. Thin body with a light, oily texture. Light fizz. Very nice indeed.

50cl bottle from M&S, Camberley. A bright reddish copper colour with no head but some light carbonation; earthy caramel aroma; sweet nutty caramel taste; and an earthy malt finish with a touch of orange and spice. Quite pleasant, but doesnโ€™t do anything more.

Reddish-amber with a decent, off-white head. Sweetish aroma, with caramel and red berry fruits, followed by a touch of damson sharpness. Flavour was fruity upfront, with some bready malts and decent, bitter, finish. Enjoyable.
