Nose of popcorn and soft toffee. Nuts and toffee on the palate spiked by light tropical fruit. Dry grainy/malty finish, typical of Exmoor beers, leaving the taste buds calling out for more.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Copper coloured with a dense white head; nutty malty aroma; sweet malt flavour, but rather thin; dry and nutty finish. An unexceptional bitter.

Cask conditioned handpull at Postal Order, JDW, Worcester. Chestnut colour lasting beige head. It’s alright, bit of biscuit on a normal bitter. Bit of yeast character on aroma. Not much hop on finish. Some toffee, some biscuit.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 3/11/09. Chestnut in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of doughy malts, red fruit and a whiff of marmite. Flavour had plenty of sweetish malts, a bready edge and very bitter finish. Not wonderful.
