A pint from the cask with a clear, amber colour and a creamy white head. Flavour is unsubstantial with malty notes and a bit of toffee. Rather light and easy drinking. A bit too lightweight for my taste.

A pint from the cask at the Griffin. A dark amber colour with slim off white head. Aromas of fruity. Body is a bit watery. Disappointing.

Soft malty beginning. Easy to drink, grainy with a soft mild grainy finish. A bit neutral with hints of citric hops.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours the classic “bitter brown” with a generous off-white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma here – just general malts and a hint of orange. Sweet malts are to the fore in the mouth, plus apples and autumn fruits. Finish is quite malty. Just a standard bitter really, but quite nice and drinkable.
