Brown 500ml bottle: BBD 31 Aug 14, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 1 Nov 13. As the name might suggest, this is a golden coloured ale: it was bright and clear also. On top sat a good deep head of tight white bubbles. The nose wasn’t up to much: some hints of hoppiness and traces of malts, but not enough to pick out anything to comment on. The taste was an interesting blend of flavours, mildly hoppy with a dry finish, it also possessed some semi-sweet caramel biscuit notes especially as it warmed a little. OK more than marvelous, but overall fine.

50cl bottle from Waitrose. Amber with a thin white head that laces the glass; bready aroma with a trace of citrus; soft and sweet in the mouth with a honeyed sweetness; the hops are fresh and spicy, but don’t quite cut through the sweetness.

Bottle from Waitrose, Ashford. Clear amber with lasting beige head. Yes it’s a bitter really. Some spicy Goldings that come through as almost marzipan-esque. It’s not exactly drinkable but it is definitely interesting and I do like the hop sting on the finish. It’s somewhere between a golden ale and a bitter. Fine.
