In March 2014 an intrepid band of Beoir members made the journey to Black’s Brewery in Kinsale. As a reward for raising start up funds for the brewery they were invited down to make their own brew and Beoir #1 is that beer. Contains Summit for bittering with Citra, Topaz and Galaxy used for flavour, aroma and dry-hopping.

Bottle at Cotteridge Tasting, Saturday 24th January 2015 Hazy amber with filmy white head. Thick in mouth, a little syrupy but hugely hoppy. Very big beer, nicely balanced but a fiercely hoppy beast. Gives the mouth a great workout. Btw big thanks to Beersiveknown for all of the Irish beers, interestingly I think he helped brew this one, its excellent, give that man a brewing job! Bottle from my European Secret Santa, many thanks Steve. Hazy amber colored beer with medium white head. Nice citrus hoppy aroma with tangerines, orange zest, resin, malty notes. Solid malty base followed by nice hoppy kick with tangerines, mango, orange zest, resin. long hoppy bitter finish. Tasty beer.

on draft @ AtG. Deep amber red color, finger of off white head, grapefruit, floral and toffee aromas. Big oily mouthfeel, very smooth until the hops kick in then its all bitter grapefruit and pine that lasts forever. Finish is incredibly long and bitter, did I say that enough....it has a long finish. Nice Imperial here at 9%, hides the abv very well.

Draught at Farringtons. Clean golden amber with a thin head. Tough beer this one, too tough for me. Intense hoppy bitter, if you are a hop head this is probably your thing.

Keg @ Salthouse, Galway [160414]
Amber, clear, thin white head, good lacing
Aroma - Sweet fruity malts, piney, soft hop resins, lots of sticky tropical fruits, sticky nectar like fruits
Taste as aroma, sweet citrus, sticky hop resins, lots of sweet fruity malts, booze well hidden, sweet tropical fruits, lots of sweet fruits
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, very oily, smooth, quite syrup like, lots of bitter hops to offset the bitterness but not quite enough - tbh it’s just rather a bit too sweet
Overall - I’m this beer could withstand beer could stand more ferocious hopping to reduce that sweetness a tad, but it’s still a really good beer
