This traditional beer style was originally brewed in countries bordering the Baltic Sea. Although derived from English porters, it was mostly influenced by Russian imperial stouts. Typically, the Baltic porters are brewed with lager yeasts and are smoother than the imperial stouts. Grand Baltic Porter is good for the soul & luxurious on a cold Baltic night. Skal!

500 ml bottle from the lcbo.
Dark brown pour, not as dark as i expected. Sweet malty aroma, light roast and some subtle dark fruits. Low carb, good mouth feel. Finish is quite sweet, almost cloying. Light bitterness, and light roast, with a touch of coffee. Hmmm, kinda disapointed.

Bottle in the hotel lobby, RBWG ’15, night 2 - 20/02/15 thanks to whomever shared this number. Mahogany brown with a moderate beige covering. Nose is rich roast, dark fruit rinds, light cocoa rub. Taste comprises dark toffee, rich malt, light charr, spice, chocolate. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok Baltic porter.

Bottle during the RBWG lobby share. Pours a clear amber with small white head. The aroma is molasses and brown sugar. Thin mouth with candy sugar and caramel, light booze, nice.

Bottle shared late night during RBWG 2015. Vintage 2011. Pours reddish brown with a creamy tan head. Some oxidation present on the nose, a bit of cocoa, toasted caramel. Medium sweets or, sugary, with some brown sugar, earthy hops, toffee. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sugary dark malt finish with mellow chocolate. Not bad.

Bottle - Vintage 2011 - Sweet dark chocolate, roast and some molasses. Deep dark brown with a nice light brown head. Cocoa and sweet caramel with a light bitter finish. Age has taken its toll, but still ok.

Tastes of sweet malt - a little too sugary for me. Smells sweet too. No head retention, pours clear brown. A little roast but not much. Meh. Bottle to kill the hangover.

(500mL from LCBO) Poured at cellar temperature, a clear dark brown with auburn accents and a thin ring of head quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma of molasses, dates, muscat grapes, raisins, rum balls, woodiness. Flavour is sweet to start, molasses, cocoa powder, vinous grape juice, dark fruit, something like smoky oak and light bittering hops leading to a dry finish where the alcohol makes the barest impression, again with chocolate. Smooth, malt and sugar addition-driven without much yeast character as expected. Fairly light mouthfeel for the ABV, no burn and soft carbonation. This feels like an old-school beer like I imagine the style to be typified by.

Nice to see a bunch of new Garrison hitting the LCBO. This baltic porter pours a darker brown colour with lots of red highlights. Not much of a head, disappearing quickly and not leaving any lace. Aromas are mild with raisins, plums, chocolate and something sweet, kind of like grape juice. Nice medium-full bodied. Becomes hazy at last pour and smells a bit more balanced at that point. No burning at all (really, this is 9% ABV ??). Taste is not as sweet as one would think. Nicely blended bitterness with the dark fruits and chocolate coming out in the finish. A nice version of the style (as per the description).

A deep dark porter with a super thick, creamy and onctuous brown head. In aroma, herbaceous chocolate, dark fruits, light iron notes, very nice. In mouth, a superb sweet caramelized chocolate, with light soy sauce, fudge, alcohol warmth, coffee grind, briney notes, very nice, rich and intense. Bottle shared with probstk, Aug. 21 2011.Merci Karl!
