[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A peaty brown coloured pour with a thin beige head; aroma of toasted grains; sharp bitter taste to start from deeply roasted grains; then some chocolate and a lasting bitter finish.

From cask at Hole in the Wall at Waterloo 18.10.22. Very dark brown. Some beige head and lacing. Fine aroma and taste of grapefruit, dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of liquorice. Still very tasty and drinkable.

Cask gravity at the London drinker fest 2016. Opaque dark brown Ruby red coloured pour with a lasting loose light tan head. Aroma is sweet lemon drizzle cake, some brown sugars, caramel, toasted pine. Flavour is pretty sweet, toffee, unrefined sugars, toasted malts. Hops are orange rind, citrus , chewy hop resin, leafy hop. Palate is sweet, chewy, hop resin, moderate cask condition. Bit too sweet for my taste.

Cask at the Sir John Oldcastle, JDW - London. Pours clear, reddish brown with a dense, lasting khaki head. The aroma has notes of orange and grapefruit juice, toasty bread. Light to medium sweet flavor with mellow brown bread, more grapefruit, subtle toasted pine bitterness, earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation and massaging texture. Finishes with more ripe citrus, some bitter earth, brown bread, mild oune, tangerine, grapefruit, peach. Sort of a beginnerโs CDA, I suppose. Not bad.
