Pours a pitch black with a nice tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice, Longmorn whiskey. Flavour is moderate to medium sweetness, liquorice, whiskey. This concludes my exploration of all four Meneer de Uil Barrel Aged brews. The Ledaig was my favourite, but each of hem was a real treat to drink. Thank you wise Mister Owl.

Bottle. Almost black, opague. Chocolate, caramel, whisky and floral honeyish notes in the aroma. Whisky dominating the flavor. Alcoholic, but no peat. Sweet, almost honeyish, caramel. Nice one.

Bottle shared during Scopey’s 5K tasting - Croydon, London. Big thanks to Josh! Pours deep black, oily, with a frothy beige head. Lovely milk chocolate character, with touches of burnt marshmallows and toffee. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Great condition. Warming finish, with rich cocoa notes, more burnt marshmallow, moderate wood, milk chocolate. Very well balanced and drinkable. Outstanding.

Bottle. A dark brown beer, unclear, and topped by a dense, finger-thick beige head. It’s malty on the nose, with dark chocolate, some coffee, roasted malt and some alcohol. Booze notes too. It’s full-bodied, warming and with a nice carbonation. Coffee, some licorice and dark chocolate, roasted malts and a boozy touch. Lasting finish. Too boozy this one, but quite nice anyway. 150724

33 cl bottle @ home, last of the series. Black color. Light brown head, quickly disappearing. Aroma’s: bit whisky, bit wood, bit roasted malts, bit umimai, light red fruits, all not very strong (from the glass). Retronasal there’s sweet malts, bit sticky toffee, a bit booze/whisky/alcohol, roast. Flavor is light to moderate sweet, roasted malts, whisky. Alcohol feels quite strong, warming & prickly. Finish is not too long, woody, light bitter and ashy. Still OK, but not the best of the 4.
