Spring is in the air and what better way to herald the new season with some fresh spring zest. Spring is in the air and what better way to herald the new season with some fresh spring zest. For this we are using hops famed for their zesty citric and piny qualities, to deliver flavours of grapefruit and orange.

Cask half-pint in The Briar Rose, Birmingham on 20th May 2017. Golden amber body, white crown. Citrus notes in both the nose and taste, this overpowers the malty undertone of the brew somewhat. OK, but too citrusy for my taste.

Cask at the Charles Holden, Wandsworth. Pours light gold with a medium head. Aroma is flinty mango hop. Taste has straw to start and a flinty finish.

Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Brighter golden coloured ale with a creamy head. Quite malty, but always crisp and easy-supping. There’s a very mild citrus fruitiness here.

Golden beer which pours slightly hazy but soon clears, retaining a medium white head. Very light zesty aroma. Slightly creamy feel to it. Initially bitter but it settles to being light and a bit lemony. Nothing special but it’s perfectly drinkable and it’d do the job in warmer weather.

Cask at the Larbert Beer Festival 2015. Pours crystal clear pale gold with a thin, bubbly white head. Aromas of fresh sweat, unripe banana. Taste is soapy, chalky lemon. Not great.
