Wild Farmhouse Ale

Malts: Pils, Flaked Wheat, Special Aromatic, Dark Munich
Hops: Galaxy, Sterling
Secret Ingredients: Oxygen

Bretty, funky and striped for camouflage, Space Tiger is a larger cousin our our other lion based farmhouse ales.

Fermented with our house funk culture and hopped with a blend of Galaxy, Kazbek and Sterling for a melange of lemon, farmhouse, and tropical notes. Some from the hops and some from the different brett cultures just getting weird with it. I mean, we miss David Bowie too.

8.5oz bottle c/o Ryan. Thanks! Quite a funky aroma, Big leathery brett tones sort of taken in strange directions by the hops. Drinks big for the ABV, sort of a deep alcohol soaked grape flavor. Unique, leans into the brett a lot.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a glossy burnt orange color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that quickly dissipated to leave barely any lace.
The aroma had some peppercorns, wheat, lemon pulp, barnyard and basement funk, light peach and some grassy hops.
The flavor started sweet and then popped a little bit of zest, light spice and a balancing vinous sour. Funky barnyard and basement mustiness permeates dryly on my taste buds to meld into the aftertaste and slide into the finish.
The feel was between light and medium bodied with a fair crisp sessionable sort of sour feel rolling along my tongue. Decent carbonation and the ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, pretty nice sour ale well worthy of having again, but I think my buddy paid over $25 for this beast when it wasn’t that much of a beast by ABV. Not sure if I would have again due to the price.

Bottle at Churchkey into a snifter showing hazy orange with no head. The nose shows dusty green pepper and leafy vegetal notes. The palate is not carbonated and medium bodied. Lightly subtle tartness with barely perceivable fruit mid-palate and a white wine bitterness. Wow, this was not pleasant.
