Cask @ Leeds Station Wetherspoon, Leeds. Extremely dark with a lightly smoked aroma and taste, and a very easy-supping texture.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol October 2016. Near black with a thin, off-white, head. Sweetish stout with some chocolate and liquorice, a touch of caramel and gentle finish. Ok.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - chocolate, charcoal and a hint of molasses. Taste - charcoal and very dry liquorice. Some molasses comes through at the back. Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry crunchy middle section that continues through to the end. Overall - should be loaded as a dry stout I think. Decent though.

Herbet Wells, Woking. Not much of an aroma, spived fruit. Dark brown, OK beige head. Sweet and malty. Watery. Snore.

Cask at CW Spoons. It pours darkest brown (near black) with a small, bubbly beige head. The aroma is earthy roast, umami, say sauce, Asian cooking vibe, liquorice and smoked ham. The taste is thin, very bitter, earthy roast, burnt malt, liquorice, plastic, peppery spice, charred wood, umami and astringent. Finish is crazy dry. Light body and low carbonation. Pretty crap.

Black with creamy head. Aroma and flavour have some heavily roasted malts and a certain ash like taste. Nice but lacks intensity.

Tried at the Felix Holt, Nuneaton. Deep ruby to black colour with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt as is the taste. The body is thin and a bit watery.
