Shed Head is an American pale ale, dry hopped using Cascade and Citra hops, brewed in Falkenberg, Sweden and imported to the UK. Golden amber in colour, this beer has a generous white frothy head and is highly carbonated. It has a clean, fresh fragrant aroma of mango, soft fruits and hints of fresh slightly spicy herbal hops. The beer is easy drinking, medium in strength, with soft fruits and mango sweetness, slight caramel notes and beautifully balanced with clean spicy hops and a short, dry cleansing finish.

Keg at the Bamburgh Castle Inn, Seahouses. Light amber with a white head. Some juicy fruits and orange, but also minerals and metal A bit bland and industrial tasting. Note: when rating this I had been thinking it was brewed by the Backyard Brewery in the West Midlands, and had been surprised they would have made something so industrial; it was therefore a bit of a relief when it turned out to be one of the megabrewers masquerading under the same name.

From keg (unfortunately there were no available ales on cask) at Matt & Phred's, Manchester, 30.11.17, at an amazing concert with Leo Richardson and his quartet. Rated during the first intermission. Clear golden. White lacing and diminishing head. Moderate aroma, with some American hops and pilsner malt. Similar taste. A bit like Brooklyn lager. Slightly metallic and waterish mouthfeel.

On tap at Water Witch. Pours a clear gold with an amber hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has grains and bread with a hint of grass backing. Flavor is similar with sweet grains and bread supported by a touch of grass.

Clear deep golden color with a fine white head. Solid lacing. Looks nice. Fine pleasant intensity in the aroma. Good hoppy feeling. Medium body and a fine carbonation level. Ok balanced bitterness versus sweetness. Citric, fruity, caramel malty and some pine in the flavor. Nice refreshing beer after to many cask ale.

Hazy copper colour. Aroma and flavour have some tart lemony notes. Possibly rotten.

On keg at Leadmill Sheffield - Hazy amber body varying head. Had three of these and still not sure what to make of it. Sticky is the only thing I can add.

Keg at Zecca, Amble. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Quite low carbonation. Aromas of stewed apples and toffee. Taste is toffee apple. Saccharine sweet. Should’ve stayed on the bad lager, rather than switch to this.

Keg tap at the Geldart. Dark gold and clear with a little bit of white head. A fair amount of lacing. Very, very light - almost nonexistent - aroma. Light amounts of cherry, some caramel malt, a touch of spruce... I’m grasping at straws a bit here. The taste is pretty good: sweet and refreshing with just enough bittering hop to give it complexity. Well-carbonated palate. It’s good enough but it just doesn’t have all that much personality.
