We have taken an American Brown Ale brewed with Chinook, Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic Hops and aged it in wooden ex-whisky barrels with a mixed culture of Yeast and Bacteria for 5 months. The beer was dry hopped with more Mosaic in the barrel and bottled by hand. This beer is only available bottle conditioned.

Bottle shared with Joe at work. Pours clear dark red-brown with a short-lived thin white head. Good brett and sherbet aromas, some red fruits. Taste is sharp sour cherry, wood notes, Brett funk and light tropical fruit at the back. Thinned out a bit by the barrel maybe, but very nice.

Bottle procured from the Beer Gonzo online shop. Pours a mahogany colour with a swiftly vanishing beige head. Aromas of sour cherries, red berries, raspberry. Flavours of grapefruit, lemon zest, light caramel action. Tart fruit linger on the palate. Nice.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo, Online Store, Earlsdon, Coventry, consumed at home Saturday 14th January 2017 listening to Craig Charles Funk and Soul show whilst preparing Mechoui for tomorrow Pours amber with a slim white filmy head. It’s got a wonderful nose, dusty old leather sofa, old wood, and a worn out flowery/lavender? air freshener. Tart and tangy with a big old bretty edge, it’s got the perfect amount of Funk for listening to Craig Charles Funk and Soul show. Nicely dry, the base brown ale has been a little overwhelmed but that is not an issue. A great beer. A8 A4 T8 P4 OV16 4.0

0,33l bottle at home bought at Beergonzo (I think). BB 23/03/2019. brown clear head, small off-white head. smells of wood, citric, spices, a bit pukeish, light grapes, some dill, overall quite nice smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of dill, spices, a bit vegetablish, citric, rather peppery, bretty, lightly leathery, bit flowery, overall more bitter than sour. finishes bitter and dry with notes of dill, herbs and citric notes. OKish, but lacks some balance, not overly exciting but drinkable, rather messy for me.

330 ml bottle from Beer Gonzo, bb 23/3/19. Thanks to Werckmeister.
Copper-brown, hazy body, with a small, fizzy, yellowish head.
Aroma of Brett, citrus, sugar, wood, white grapes, ripe fruits, apples, some basement, subtle alcohol.
Tastes pretty dry, of Brett, citrus, wood, leather, apples, white grapes, some overripe fruits, some candy.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes bone-dry, Bretty, wooden, hoppy, citric, a bit vinous, subtly sweet.

Very nice. The nose is really rich and complex, with lovely Brett and citric hop notes. Taste is a bit too harshly dry for my taste, while still interesting. Except some wooden notes the whiskey barrel isn’t really noticeable. Overall not an outstanding style example, but enjoyable nonetheless.
