Brewed with loads of roasted and black malts, and over two gallons of VT maple syrup per barrel, this beauty was aged in oak barrels that previously held apple brandy. This rich & complex beer will mature for many months. Made for sub zero nights & pairing with decadent desserts.

Half bottle at Novare Res. Near black pour, small bubbly beige head. Maple in the aroma, with light chocolaty notes. Brandy creeps into taste adding some warmth and strength, sweet, roasty malts. Light chocolate. Smooth.

50cl bottle pours an oily black with plenty of sticky, khaki head. Nose hits with big, big apple juice. There's a lot of standard imperial stout, port and cocoa, caramel, burnt toast. But it all circles back to apples and apple juice. I drink a fair amount of brandy, but this is an apple bomb. Caramel and marzipan and cocoa and toast are all present, but damn, lots of brandy and apples. Fruity, full bodied, boozy finish. Crazy barrel treatment.

Jet black pour with a medium thin tan head that diminishes steadily to a dense film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Maple, apple brandy, oak and malt aromas. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky apple brandy, sweet maple, charred malt, dark fruit and chocolate. The finish is sweet with a maple syrup and apple brandy aftertaste. Good beer all around.

2019 version, at Stoutfest, NovareRes. looks like cough syrup. it's black but with a viscosity that's thin and buoyant. the aroma is really good apple brandy dominates. like double barreled? Pears? it's a thin beer and best in only a few ounce portions. has a juicy liquor cream flavor but no chocolate. maple, apple, creamy, goes down easy. a little bit of vodka flavor.

Bottle split at Leighton's 20K, thanks to the man of the moment, 01/03/17. Light black with a well presented tan cap. Nose is chcocolate, apple, spice, brandy butter, earthy dark fruits. Taste comprises dark malts, spice, dates, fruit loaf, chocolate, raisins, dried fruits, more brandy snap. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough impy sipper but lacking depth for me.

Bottle thanks to Derek. Pours black with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is cocoa, roast, wood, brandy. Medium body, roast, almond, wood, brandy, nice sweetness, very good.
