Bottle at home. Pours clear orange, nose is caramel, toffee, oak, grapes, taste is rich, toffee, caramel, wood, fruity.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie. Pours a rosy golden amber, good white head. Aroma presents sweet ripened orchard fruit and faint white wine. Taste is thankfully not overly sweet, but well balanced with light BA nuances subtly drifting into view, and integrating well with the fruity barley wine elements. A remarkable BA barley wine.

Bottle. Can’t recall where from. Pale , orange amber. Soft haze. Thin, dense, lasting, sticky, off white head. Slow moving and viscous. Nose is all about the white wine barrel. Lovely, tangy, cut sappy wood, and white grape stalk. Toasty malts. Some jam and dried fruit. Clean and fresh and vinous. Aroma easily belies the 12% ABV. Taste has a bright, funky bitterness, that is well removed from a normal barley wine. Surely a bretty twang in here? Light, vine fruit sweetness. Medium body. Fine carbonation. Never, ever 12%. Light bitter, tangy and vinous sweet finish. Wow! This is lovely. Pitch perfect BA affair.
