Clear 500ml bottle, 25th Nov 2014 it was poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged pint vase shaped glass. Nice looking beer at first, chestnut reddy brown, clear and clean: the head a fast fading off-white topping which soon turned into a thin wisp and collar. Caramel and nutty aroma and taste, my sweet tooth took to it immediately. Sadly the beer did not progress from my initial liking: it seemed even more malty and a bit sickly after a couple of sips, the body not deep or powerful enough to take the sweetness. Unusual for me to dislike a sweet, malty brew, but in this case I think the alcohol level and body depth do not marry well with the flavours or sweetness.

500ml bottle from Tesco - Rich teak body, short-lived thin white head. Nose is malty, toffee, caramel and obviously nuts. Hazelnuts I reckon. Taste is quite nice, bit bold flavours, lots of nuts in there as expected, with the similarity to those Storck Toffifee sweets somewhat uncanny. I like this a lot. Probably my favourite Morland beer.

Fra cask på Lucas Arms, Kings Cross 23 Sep14. Dyp mørk amber. Lavt, litt farget skum. Beskjeden nøttearoma. Smaken er søte nøtter etterfulgt av en svakt syrlig bitterhet.

Cask @ The Salisbury, Manchester. Clear chestnut brown coloured ale with a thin head. Has a decent mix of sweet and grainy malts and it’s fairly tasty for it. Not as nutty as it might claim, and has a small milky texture.
