The 1,000th gyle from our 24Hl production brewery 'Orpheus' is an approachable yet complex Imperial Stout, infused with lapsang souchong tea & blackcurrants. The aroma is dominated by smoke from the speciality tea, recalling pine forests and whisky drams, with an underlying redolence of freshly brewed coffee, coco beans and a hint of sweet dark fruit. On first sip, the flavours follow the aroma, with the smoke exiting stage left to allow for an exciting interplay between tart and sweet fruit, with chocolate and coffee emerging at the forefront from the decadent malt bill.

375ml fancy schmancy bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smoky nose, almost peaty, but I know it's the actual tea. Taste is full-on smoke, light roast. Hard to find much else to go on.

Black beer, thin beige head. Aroma is chocolate, spice.... chilli? Bottle doesn't mention it but it might be. Taste is a bit spicy too, with chocolate and malt. Some fruit. Rich, smooth and a bit of kick to it. Excellent stuff. I assume the "spicy" hint is tea.

Bottle shared in Hackney - big thanks to Wingman! Pours black-brown with a sturdy, frothy beige head. PleasNt smoke in the snout, cocoa, soft roast. Medium sweet flavour with good peat and smoke, a little tar, ash, baking cocoa. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Finishes with decent warmth, drying charred wood, bittersweet cocoa, more smoke. Really nice.

Bottle at LKS. Cheers to Dave. It pours black with a thick tan head. The aroma is sweet, smoked, earthy, charred wood, leather, roasted malt and liquorice. The taste is dry, rich roasted malt, rich smoked vibes, umami, liquorice, dried berry, liquorice, peppery spice, cocoa and a touch of alcohol with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Rather nice overall.
